How to Style an Elegant Eclectic Bedroom

1. Embrace the Bling

The simple but elegant chandelier is one of the elements that takes this room up a notch from just nice to full-on classy! You can dress up an existing light fixture using chandelier crystals like the gals from Sypsie Designs shared with us here, or try one of our picks for crystal chandeliers that won’t break the bank — all are WELL under $100! (And if you’d like to add some color, see how Cyndy painted her chandelier for a great modern look!)

2. Add Deep Drama

The deep shade of gray here is calming and a great backdrop to the other bright and shiny elements of the room. Get our picks for best gray paint colors for your home.

3. Think Tall…

In addition to the chandelier, the gold decorative curtain rods, mounted well above the top of the window, help the windows and the whole room seem taller and bigger. The simple white pleated curtains offset the dark paint color and enhance the bright, light feel of the room.

4. …and Tufted!

A tufted headboard adds such a warm elegance to any bedroom, but the shape and height of this one are key to the look and feel of the room. The glitzy mirror and gold edging of the inspiration headboard isn’t a prime candidate for DIYing, but a shiny nailhead trim could give the same effect. Follow this tutorial that Elisha shared, and adjust the height and shape of the headboard for your tastes.

5. Light the Bedside

Matching swing arm wall lamps are not only practical for a little light reading before bed, but they also serve to unite the other mismatched elements of the room. We found similar reasonably priced lamps here at Wayfair and Amazon.

6. Introduce Pops of Color

As with the white curtains, the white bedding is simple enough to allow for the little bit of eclectic chaos that might be elsewhere in the room. Pick up a simple white duvet (like this set) and embellish it with any color you want following this tutorial from House of Hepworths.

7. Mismatch, Intentionally

If you’ve ever found the perfect nightstand and then discovered that it was an orphan — this is the room style for you! The mismatched nightstands add to the beauty of the eclectic sense of the room, and give you plenty of freedom to fill the needs of the room, too, by using a dresser or desk as one of the nightstands.

8. Provide Seating

The cushy tufted bench and ottoman in this room give plenty of seating for putting on shoes or just taking a rest. And benches and ottomans are great DIY projects, in so many styles! We are kinda partial to this revamped and upholstered picnic bench.

9. Put Down a Rug

The light wood floors and nearly plain neutral rug help ground the energetic colors and mixed styles in the room. We found a similar rug here on Wayfair, but we also like the style of this tribal gold rug and the large scale pattern of these rugs.
