Inspired Through Instagram: Beautiful Bathtubs

Although it’s March here, we are looking out at snow, and snow is cold.  The cold makes us crave a hot, relaxing bath. Dreaming of beautiful tubs takes us on a search for bathtubs…(this is beginning to sound somewhat like one of those If You Give a Mouse a Cookie books). So, for this week’s post, we wanted to share some amazing bathtubs we’ve posted to and gathered from Instagram.

Cool Design Idea: nest bathtub inside shower for easy cleaning

At least, we’re assuming that’s one of the perks of this design. This bathroom looks especially suave with that floor to ceiling glass wall. A huge window over the bath provides ample light for this large space. A floating cabinet with brass fixtures is a nice complement to this shower/bath combo.

DIY idea: Stand alone tub and floating shelves

We love what @gracecottagehi did to revamp an outdated bath! This after pic shows the beautiful shiplap, natural floating shelves, and white farmhouse vanity and sink. The textured roman shade and live plants add an earthy touch. Just when we feel that an overhaul might be too hard, we see a project like this and get all sorts of inspiration!! If budget is a huge concern, check out our Budget Bathroom Makeover post.

Nook Idea: bathtub gets its own designated space

This bathtub area can only be described as exquisite! From the huge marble tiles on the wall and floor to the soft paint colors, relaxation and retreat are the results. The light fixture is also a beautiful element!

Current Design Trend: putting the bathtub in front of a centered wall

This particular bathroom was found in a desert home, thus the earthy brown tones. We’re seeing a lot of this type of “floating” tub in large bathrooms. Access is made easy (and so is cleaning). Once again, there is a glass wall that showcases an awesome tile wall. What we wouldn’t give for TWO windows in the bathroom!

Natural Design Idea: stone accent wall behind bathtub

Bringing a natural element, like stone, to the interior creates a pretty backdrop for so many rooms! Placed behind the tub, this was a fun and usual find. Floating shelves with lights bring ambiance, but the feature that caught our attention was the skylight over the tub!

Glam Design Idea: pretty curved bathtub with chandelier

Why not add a touch (or more) of glam to your bathroom? Situated on an angle, this scalloped tub is so graceful. Certainly, to add interest, the designer included the tile walls. The corner window is a treat, and the glass chandelier is outstanding! Is color more appealing to you for creating a statement? You can read our Bold Color in a Bathroom blog post.

Unique Design Idea: choose an usual bathtub and bold tile

I’m not sure why the owner wanted a round tub, but it’s certainly unique. Maybe it’s just for bathing small children? While some may find the bold floor tile a little much, it’s a work of art and certainly blends well with the black-framed window. Once again we see a glass chandelier and marble tile.

Farmhouse bath design: a barn door for the closet is opposite the tub

With farmhouse styles still trending, this bath invokes so much of what we love about a more casual feel. Natural wood-look flooring and white vanities bring simplicity. This bathroom includes fun, industrial farmhouse lighting. Another interesting element is the gray barn door (with mirror!). Timeless Designs: white tile and paint

We thought we’d end this post by sharing 2 gorgeous bathrooms, decked out in white. This first bathroom, with tile laid in a brick pattern, also houses an uncommon and stunning globe pendant light. The tub is surrounded by a deck and installed in front of a large window. Muted tones bring harmony to this space.

And lastly, this amazing bathroom by @leannefordinteriors and photographed by @maxkimbee, is not only impressive, but has another amazing secret.  This bathroom was designed and built almost 9 years ago! Doesn’t it still feel fashionable? Penny and subway tile, wood ceilings, and a clawfoot tub are just some of the things we love about this bathroom.

Summing up: Doing some research on design trends and gaining some IG inspiration can pay off when you are contemplating a renovation or a new build. Updated bathrooms not only keep us happy, but increase resale value. Choosing more classic components might weather the storm of ever-changing design. But, don’t be afraid to include elements that reflect who YOU are. Add some glam, or farmhouse or … get creative with your own design.
