Get This Look: Two-Tone Modern Farmhouse Kitchen
Mixing industrial and classic elements is the key to designing a modern farmhouse kitchen. A neutral color palette is also a hallmark of modern farmhouse style, but this kitchen *isn’t* white like many farmhouse kitchens! When designing your kitchen, don’t be afraid to combine metals and bring in texture with wood finishes. The combination of copper and chrome fixtures offset by contrasting upper and lower cabinets is pure perfection. A layout that provides room for a kitchen island and extra seating is ideal but not always possible depending on your home’s footprint.

2. Select contrasting upper and lower cabinets
The contrasting cabinet trend isn’t going anywhere and this kitchen proves why. Not only do contrasting upper and lower cabinets add visual interest to a kitchen, but they also accentuate the farmhouse look without feeling dated. Sleek silver cabinet hardware pulls everything together. White cabinets mixed with another color or wood tone is popular in farmhouse kitchens, but this kitchen features white countertops paired with beautiful wood and painted gray cabinets for a warmer look.
3. Add copper cookware & wood utensils
Echoing the pendant lighting over the kitchen island, copper cookware and wood kitchen utensils are found throughout this space. Copper is a modern alternative to traditional brass or silver and pairs well with warm wood tones.

4. Incorporate updated chrome fixtures
Rather than stick with a single metal finish, this kitchen expertly mixes a cool chrome with warm copper. The chrome kitchen faucet compliments the cabinet hardware beautifully without being too matchy-matchy.
