Best Paint Colors for Your Home: GREEN

It’s time to take another look into Remodelaholic’s Color Files!  It just so happens that on our ride around the color wheel was scheduled to stop for tours at GREEN, this week.  Which is awfully convenient, considering Pantone just announced the 2013 color of the year and it is Emerald Green.

Pantone color of 2013

It’s a gorgeous jewel tone.  But guess what?  It’s really underutilized in the home decor world.  I thought it would be easy to find lots of examples of this newly popular color, but I was wrong!  A saturated hue like this doesn’t get painted on to walls or furniture  very often–yet.  As I searched the web for examples of this color, most of the images came from fashion sites, where everyone is throwing on shades of jade and emerald.  It’s a tad less common in homes, but green is definitely winning some ground, a cushion or two at a time.  So I’m warning you–this week’s edition of the color files may be more inspirational than informative.  (I wasn’t able to find matching paint colors for all the featured rooms.)  I think, though, that you’ll be surprised and delighted at how much energy even a small shot of green gives to a space.
