Best Colors For Your Home: Navy Blue
Hi!! My name is Megan Campbell here from Megan Campbell Designs to share with you my first addition of the Color Files!!
Best Colors For Your Home: NAVY BLUE
Lately I have been obsessed with Navy Blue. You see it everywhere. On walls, furniture, even kitchen cabinets. It is such a dark and dramatic color.
Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.
Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is strongly associated with tranquility and calmness. Maybe this is why I am always drawn to it.
I have loved seeing all of the DIY cabinets and vanities painted Navy. Here is an awesome bathroom makeover. I LOVE the dark Navy vanity with the contract of all of the clean white. Such a sophisticated space.

And here is an amazing kitchen that also has dark cabinets with contrasting white counters….Love…..

Another Navy trend that I have been obsessing with are the amazing Navy rugs out there. I have two that are my absolute favorites. I would love to pull the trigger and add one of these beauties to my living room. I love how deep the color blue is without being right in your face. It is sort of a subtle punch instead of intense color. Here are two rugs that I am currently drooling over.

I am also loving the trend of painted furniture. It is so satisfying to find an inexpensive piece on Craiglist or at your local thrift store and be able to spend under $100 to paint and transform a piece. Here are two of my recent favorites. I love this dresser below and how she took it a step further and painted the bottoms of the legs gold……so cool….

We are also seeing furniture in all shades of Navy. Sofas, headboards, chairs and just about everything else. Doesn’t this sofa look super comfy??

Once last Navy trend I have noticed a lot lately….is the idea of total saturation. These are two rooms, which used the color Navy in every aspect. Furniture, tile, fabric, paint, etc.
Check out Todd Romano’s Manhattan apartment. Insane.
