Newly Painted and Decorated Den Before and After
Submitted by Dixie Delight
Just for kicks, here’s the before before. Loads of room for improvement, no?
…and, after a WHOLE lot of paint, too many sewing projects, furniture and accessories, here’s where we are today!

Paint – Benjamin Moore Stone Hearth (walls) and Benjamin Moore Alabaster (trim)
Curtains – Basha Dot (sadly, it’s been discontinued), made by me
Floor – unstained white oak
Rug – Indoor/Outdoor French Leopard by Ballard Designs
And for the close ups…

So that’s a tour of every inch of our den. I couldn’t be happier with where we are…and for a type-A kinda gal, it sure feels good to cross that room off the list!

Wow! What an incredible makeover! The room is a show stopper! Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely transformation! The use of the silhouettes was especially nice.
Oh, what a beautiful transformation! This just goes to show the power paint and decor can have on a space.
It’s an incredible room, with so many beautiful elements! Thanks for including sources for so many things. I love the little banquette you designed. What a great way to use that little corner!
I’m loving the look of the fireplace. I need to remember that those things can be changed and brightened up, since we are looking for a new house. I don’t want a great house to pass us by because of the look of the fireplace. It can always be changed.
Love your room–y’all did a beautiful job!! I especially love the little table and two chairs stuck in there–great spot for a card game!
Very pretty. Wonderful transformation.
Amazing work. Excellent renovation, especially mantle design which looks traditional yet superb.
Lovely! May I ask how do you attach the oyster plates to the wall?
Marina, From the picture I can see that she used something like this. I have used those too, they are available at Home Depot or Lowes in the section for wall hanging hardware. You just have to know what size of plate you plan to hang. Then you just hammer in a nail and hang it on the nail.
Hi there. Is the wall color the same as the fireplace color? LOVE LOVE LOVE! 🙂
I want to know the same thing
I love your make over!!! It is so beautiful. You have excellent taste. Your room looks like it comes straight out of a magazine or model home.
What did you do to the brick? Was that a DIY or did you have it professionally done? LOVE IT!!!
Hi Danielle! This was a guest post, so you’ll have to click over to the original blog (linked at the top of the post) to have her answer your questions. But we also just painted our brick fireplace so that might be helpful, too: https://www.remodelaholic.com/2014/08/painted-black-brick-fireplace/. Thanks for commenting!
