NEW! Printable First Day of School Signs (Updated for 2023-2024)

The summer has flown by! How can it be time for school to start again ALREADY?  It is seriously crazy how quickly time goes by and how quickly those kids grow up! (Okay, I know it’s only July, but I’m already seeing back to school sales and some schools in my area are starting early in August, so I wanted to share this now so all you prepared people can have it ahead of time 🙂 

One of our favorite ways to document our kids’ growth and to celebrate the start of school is by taking photos with those adorable first day of school signs, like this  first day of school sign (and the matching sign for the last day of school) that have been so popular in past years.

This school year, we have partnered with Canon again to share a new style of back to school sign, plus updates for the 3 new ones we shared last year!

We have been so impressed with the Canon PIXMA TS9020 and how beautifully it prints our designs; it handles both color and black and white marvelously.  You can print these on regular printer paper, but we’d recommend cardstock since it’s thicker and will prevent the sign from bending and flopping over for your picture-perfect first day of school photos. We used the Canon matte photo paper.

We all love to be able to customize, so we have added this new design to be fully customizable. Start by choosing a design color: grey, blue, purple, red or yellow. Then simply fill in the form fields to fit each child and print! There is a place for your kiddo’s name, grade, age, what they want to be when they grow up, their school name and the date of their first day of school. This will make for a great comparison with their last day of school photo.

**Reminder** As with all of our customizable printables, you must make sure you are opening the file from your computer’s documents and not inside your web browser to make sure the fonts all work correctly. First download the file(s) from the email and pay attention to where it is saved (usually in the “downloads” folder on your computer), the find the file on your computer and open it – make sure you’re not opening it from your browser’s download bar!

You can mix and match or choose all different styles like these cute siblings did.
